Ohio Update...9/4/07

Hello Everyone!

Just an update on the Whaley's and our new ministry, here in Ohio. First of all, we have much to be thankful for! And we owe all of our praise to God above for providing for our family, and for continuing to open doors for our ministry.
1.) It appears as though the sale of our business is coming along quite nicely. We're still in the waiting stages of the potential buyers achieving their loan, however as of now, all things still look really good.

2.) I have had a second interview for a part-time job that really looks great. I'm expecting a training schedule via email at any time. This job (which I will tell you more about later, once I've started to work) will provide the necessary hours to be free for our collegiate ministry. It is also located right here in Tiffin...about 5 minutes from our house.

3.) Speaking of house, Denise has found someone who owns a home here in Tiffin, that has been on the market to be sold for quite some time. He has pulled the house off of the market, and wants to rent it to us. He's aware of our situation (basically, no money in hand as of now), and is willing to work with us anyway. Prayerfully, we would like to be in our new home by the end of September. That should provide ample time to finish the sale of Dad's Place, and get me on a regular work schedule.

4.) We had our first Bible Study on the TU campus last Thursday, and PTL we had 9 students and 3 adults attend. I was absolutely blown-away. We had 3 young ladies that are freshman, who are from China. These girls have only been in the states for a few days! What an opportunity!

5.) Tabitha had an incredible first week of classes. All of the potential fears that could've crept in are all gone! She acts as though she's been doing this for a long time. To say the least, we're super proud of her.

6.) Over the next 3 weeks, we have the opportunity to set up a booth at 3 different events to promote our Bible Study/ministry. Two of these will be on the TU campus. We've been given $250 to use for these evangelistic events. We're printing up neon colored 'business cards' for the h2o gathering on Thursday nights, and also bookmarks as well. We are also planning on giving out bottled water & peanut butter crackers to students at one of the events; then on the 2nd event, we're planning on giving out notebooks and micro-wave popcorn. Of course, we will have our campus ministry info attached to all give-a-ways. We are planning on setting up a powerpoint presentation to be showing during the events.

As you can see, things are really getting busy for us as the semester gets in full swing. What a ride!

Here are our prayer requests and ministry needs:
1.) We need the sale of Dad's Place to be swift, as we continue to struggle financially. We are still overwhelmed financially, however, with DP selling, and our new job, things are slowing changing direction. Please pray that God will finalize the loan needed to complete this situation, and that God will bless the new owners as they seek to continue the ministry we began in Monticello. We would also ask you to continue to pray that God will raise up more financial supporters for our ministry. As of now, we have one family that has committed to giving on a monthly basis. We need approximately 15 families/churches that would see this vision and partner with us with monthly contributions of $100.

2.) Pray that we can be in our new home ASAP! We're still living out of the 'suitcase' mode in many areas. It will be incredible to have all our'stuff' in it's proper place, and not in a 'box somewhere'!

3.) Pray for our Thursday Bible Study! Pray that God will use this as a springboard deeper into the college life. We're also hoping and praying to see students from Heidelberg College begin showing up on Thursday! Pray that God will use me to share the Gospel in a manner that these students can understand.

4.) Now that things are beginning to settle out, we're finding ourselves in need of some 'little things', and a couple of big things. Pray that God will provide these needs. Here is our temporary list:
a.) Copy Paper
b.) Colored Copy Paper
c.) Ink Cartridges For Our Printer
d.) Bibles For The Students (this past Thursday, only one of the students had a Bible) I would ask that the Bibles be either the New Living Translation or the New King James Translation. I would also like to get a few copies of the Bible translated in Chinese.
e.) I'm probably going to have to purchase a new cell phone. I'm having lots of problems with my current cell phone. I've exchanged it already this past week, but it looks like now that I won't be able to keep my new one. If that is the case, I will be needing to purchase a new phone.
f.) Guitar strings. With us beginning P&W in our Thursday night gatherings, many of you know how I go through strings. I use Elixer Acoustic Mediums.
g.) Pens & Pencils
h.) File Folders

Here are the couple of bigger items that we're going to need:
1.) I'm needing a laptop computer. The one I'm using is Tabitha's and her classes demand a lot of computer time. So my time has to be very productive when I'm on it. and
2.) It's really obvious that we are going to be needing a 2nd vehicle. Something small for me to get around town in.

Thank you for joining us in prayer for these and other needs. It really helps to know that each of you are standing in the gap with us in prayer.

Have an incredible week.

His Servants,
The Whaley's
Jim, Denise and Tabitha
